Advancing Women: Where We Stand Today
Women comprise 51 percent of the industry’s managerial and professional workforce but only 18 percent of its corporate officers. Why is that — and what can senior female leaders do about it? In this session, economist and author Janice Madden unpacks the numbers and examines the cultural, social and economic changes needed to advance women to leadership roles in cpg/retail. Madden, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, is the author of five books on workforce economics, including Mommies and Daddies on the Fast Track. She has served as an expert consultant in gender discrimination litigation and wrote a 2004 study that contributed to the increased hiring of African American coaches in the National Football League.
