3 NEW members named ‘top diverse leaders’

Three Network of Executive Women members and nearly a dozen other employees of Network sponsors have been named to DiversityMBA Magazine’s "2012 Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders” list.

NEW members Subriana Pierce, senior vice president of sales and merchandising, Albertsons for NEW gold sponsor SUPERVALU; Fumbi Chima, vice president of international integrations at NEW foundation sponsor Walmart; and Courtney Spitz, senior executive for NEW title sponsor Accenture, were among the executive leaders selected from a group of more than 300 candidates from public and privately held companies, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations.

"We aspired to recognize high potential and seasoned executives for their outstanding leadership within their companies and communities,” said Pam MeElvane, CEO and publisher for DiversityMBA. "We believe that celebrating individuals that value higher education is a unique recognition in aligning leadership and education.”

Also named in the executive leaders category were Timothy M. Russell, director of public relations; Javier Farfan, senior director of cultural branding; and Gary Harrison-Ducros, vice president of labor relations, Frito-Lay, for NEW foundation sponsor PepsiCo. Other executive leaders recognized were Marybeth Torbet Cornwell, senior vice president, general merchandise manager for ladies wear and accessories for Walmart; Hector G. Calzada Jr., managing director of Deloitte Corp. Finance LLC at NEW title sponsor Deloitte; Charles Vila, vice president, consumer and customer insights for NEW platinum sponsor Campbell Soup Company; LaDonna Gooden, vice president of client services, and Angela L. Talton, senior vice president, global diversity and inclusion, at NEW platinum sponsor Nielsen; and Katherine LaVelle, managing director of talent and organization North America  for Accenture.

Emerging leaders named to the "Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders” list included Sara Elder, divisional vice president, fair employment and compliance for NEW gold sponsor Sears Holding Corporation, and Julian T. Ortiz, senior executive at Accenture.

The honorees were featured in DiversityMBA Magazine’s Summer 2012 issue and will be recognized at the magazine’s Awards Gala Sept. 20 and 21, 2012 in Chicago.
