Cathy Doyle, regional sales manager for General Mills, and the NEW Florida regional committee have been recognized by the Network of Executive Women for their leadership and commitment to the Network's mission to attract, retain and advance women in the consumer products and retail industry. They were honored at the NEW Regional Awards Banquet during the Leadership Summit, Oct. 22, 2012 in Dallas.

Doyle, who has served as NEW New England co-secretary, accepted the Bobbie O’Hare Award as the year’s outstanding committee member. Each year, members of the Network’s 19 regions nominate one person as their "best of the best” committee member. These members are honored during each region’s fall event and are eligible for the Bobbie O’Hare award.

The NEW Florida leadership team accepted a new perpetual trophy as Region of the Year.

Doyle was a founding member of NEW New England and helped start a robust college mentoring outreach program that serves as a benchmark for all NEW regions, noted NEW Chair of Regional Activities Maria Edelson, founder and president of Sales and Capability Development LLC, who along with NEW Board member emeritus Bobbie O’Hare, vice president of business development for JOH, presented the award.

She has implemented innovations and best practices that are a model for the Network,” Edelson said, "and she has twice been named leader of the year by her region. In the words of her peers on the committee, she has been the constant cheerleader who identified successes and offered ways to improve and grow. She personally mentored many committee members and recruited talented leaders who will drive the future success of NEW.”

In recognizing the leadership team of NEW Florida, Edelson said the region "has been a powerful example and selfless mentor to our other regions. They expanded their programs outside their metro area by dividing their state into four markets and offering mixers and networking events in each. As a result they engaged more members and attracted more potential members to the Network.”

The NEW Florida committee created a one-on-one member mentoring program -- now in its third year -- with its own handbook, survey tool and events, Edelson added. "This region has been a leader in supporting and mentoring other regions across the country.”
