More than 200 Network of Executive Women attendees learned ways to avoid a human energy crisis at the NEW Southern California fall event, Oct. 11, 2012 in City of Industry, Calif.

The Corporate Athlete® course, held at the Pacific Palms Hotel and Conference Center, featured Jill Sharp of the Human Performance Institute, who presented insights on how to achieve unprecedented performance levels. Sharp offered NEW members tips to become physically energized, emotionally connected, and mentally focused and aligned with their personal missions. NEW Southern California Co-Chair Programming Kendra Doyel, vice president, public relations for Ralph’s Grocery Co., moderated the afternoon workshop.

"What are your priorities when failure is not an option? We call those missions,” Sharp said. "To complete these missions, we need to expand our capacity to perform without compromising our health and happiness. Managing energy, not just time, is the key to extraordinary results!”

NEW Southern California Co-Secretary Courtney Carpenter, director of brand development for Catalina Marketing, said the workshop "helped me realize how to better manage my energy in the workplace and at home through prioritization, nutrition and exercise. I learned that we are all athletes within our companies and we need to train to perform at our best, much like professional athletes.”

Among the organizations attending the NEW Southern California fall event were Advantage Sales & Marketing, Bristol Farms, Catalina Marketing, Coca-Cola Refreshments, Food 4 Less, Smart & Final Stores, Nestlé Waters, PepsiCo Inc., Ralph’s Grocery Co., Southern Wine & Spirits and Safeway Inc.
