Members donate $19,000 for scholarships at NEW Summit

Network of Executive Women Silent Auction and other fundraising efforts raised more than $19,000 in scholarship funds during the NEW Leadership Summit in Dallas, Oct. 22-23, 2012. Network scholarships benefit outstanding women earning degrees in food, retail
and consumer products-related programs.
members bid on all of the items offered during the Silent Auction, which raised more than $10,300. More than $8,800 was raised through direct donations, including a donation
of $5,500 from E. & J. Gallo Winery.
Scholarship donors received NEW
lapel pins. Those who donated at least $25 were able to pose for a photo with Olympic
track star Jessica Cosby. Donors of $100 or more were offered hard-bound copies
Powerful Wisdom from Powerful Women by Fawn Germer.
In June, NEW awarded $30,000 in scholarships to seven women pursuing careers in
the cpg/retail industry: graduate student Ijeoma Arum, attending Columbia
University, and undergraduate students Brittany Bishop of the University of
Dayton; Chelsea Halat, Mary Sisti and Elizabeth Sclafani of Saint Joseph’s
University; Shannon Hapeman of the University of Texas at Dallas; and Sara
Simic of Western Michigan University.
NEW Scholarship Committee is chaired by Joy Nicholas of Balance Innovations
and includes Silent Auction Co-Chair Donna Adam of Kellogg Company, Debbie
Grosh of DLG Strategies, Michele Hanson of ExecuInsight LLC, Luci Sheehan of Strategic
Sales & Marketing Initiatives, Silent Auction Co-Chair Karin Thrift of Clif
Bar & Co. and Janet Wilson of Family Dollar.
