The Network of Executive Women Silent Auction and other fundraising efforts raised more than  $19,000 in scholarship funds during the NEW Leadership Summit in Dallas, Oct. 22-23, 2012. Network scholarships benefit outstanding women earning degrees in food, retail and consumer products-related programs.

NEW members bid on all of the items offered during the Silent Auction, which raised more than  $10,300. More than $8,800 was raised through direct donations, including a donation of $5,500 from E. & J. Gallo Winery.

Scholarship donors received NEW lapel pins. Those who donated at least $25 were able to pose for a photo with Olympic track star Jessica Cosby. Donors of $100 or more were offered hard-bound copies of Pearls: Powerful Wisdom from Powerful Women by Fawn Germer.

In June, NEW awarded $30,000 in scholarships to seven women pursuing careers in the cpg/retail industry: graduate student Ijeoma Arum, attending Columbia University, and undergraduate students Brittany Bishop of the University of Dayton; Chelsea Halat, Mary Sisti and Elizabeth Sclafani of Saint Joseph’s University; Shannon Hapeman of the University of Texas at Dallas; and Sara Simic of Western Michigan University.

The NEW Scholarship Committee is chaired by Joy Nicholas of Balance Innovations and includes Silent Auction Co-Chair Donna Adam of Kellogg Company, Debbie Grosh of DLG Strategies, Michele Hanson of ExecuInsight LLC, Luci Sheehan of Strategic Sales & Marketing Initiatives, Silent Auction Co-Chair Karin Thrift of Clif Bar & Co. and Janet Wilson of Family Dollar.
