North Central Texas inspired through 'positive imaging'
Friday, April 19, 2013
More than 200 Network of
Executive Women members were inspired by sociologist, author and comedienne Dr.
Bertice Berry at the NEW North Central Texas spring networking event, April 17,
2013 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Addison, Texas.
Berry focused on the
power of positive imaging, asking attendees, "Who are you and how do you
want to be seen?” Emphasizing the importance of celebrating one's authentic
self and the characteristics that are special to each individual, Berry said,
"When you are your authentic self, there are no glass ceilings.”
Berry encouraged NEW
members and supporters to surround themselves with a "purpose posse” --
people who help them to find and achieve their purpose. "Those who care a
lot, carry a lot,” she said.
The world needs to be a
shared experience, Berry said. She shared her experience giving a coat to a
woman in South Africa. When the rest of the woman's group expressed their
excitement, Berry explained that she only had the one coat to give. "We
celebrate the joys of our sisters with them,” said one of the women.

"I really enjoyed
[Dr. Berry] and how she incorporated what the concept of NEW is all about into
her speech,” said Bridgette Fleming, an attendee from the Army and Air Force
Exchange Service, "and the variety of women I was able to meet today.”
Also celebrated at the
event was full-service advertising firm Launch Agency, a consistent provider of
promotions and social media for NEW North Central Texas. The company was
recognized for Outstanding Support of the chapter.
Among the organizations
sending large delegations to the NEW North Central Texas Spring Networking
event were 7-Eleven Inc., The Coca-Cola Company, Crossmark, Kimberly-Clark
Corporation, Michaels Stores Inc., Mondelēz International Inc., Nestlé Waters
North America and PepsiCo Inc.
