PepsiCo’s Brian Cornell to take stage at NEW Summit

Brian Cornell, chief executive officer of PepsiCo Americas Foods, will discuss the strategic importance of women’s leadership at the Network of Executive Women’s NEW Leadership Summit, Oct. 21-23, 2013. More than 900 executives and emerging leaders from the retail and consumer goods industry are expected to attend the three-day Summit at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles.

Cornell will share his experiences in a one-on-on conversation with NEW Past Chair Michelle Gloeckler, senior vice president, home, for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Cornell oversees PepsiCo Americas Foods’ $24 billion portfolio, which includes Frito-Lay North America, Quaker Foods and all of PepsiCo's Latin American food businesses, including Sabritas and the Gamesa in Mexico. Cornell also is responsible for overseeing all PepsiCo customer teams and Power of One activities in the Americas.

Industry veteran

Cornell has more than 30 years of experience in consumer products marketing and general management. Prior to his current position, he was president and CEO of Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., where he also served as an executive vice president of the company. Previously, he was CEO of Michaels, the largest specialty retailer of arts and crafts in North America. He also served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Safeway Inc., where he was responsible for the company’s marketing, merchandising, manufacturing and distribution operations.
