As I travel around the country visiting our 20 regional groups, I am always amazed at how the Network of Executive Women’s 8,500 members step up to advance our mission, lean in to advance their careers and reach out to support their colleagues.

Case in point: Machelle Selbe, vice president, principle at Gifford Operating Company, who has been a dedicated and innovative leader in the NEW Northwest Arkansas region. Machelle -- who was honored as NEW Regional Secretary of the Year last fall -- has transitioned to a regional advisory role. NEW Northwest Arkansas will be led by Co-Secretaries Elizabeth Skogland, customer sales executive at The Hershey Company, and Linda Lauschke, director of customer development at Mondelēz International. Congratulations and thanks, Elizabeth and Linda!

The Network also welcomes Zsoka McDonald, vice president, corporate communications for new Network sponsor Diageo. Zsoka is serving as NEW Ambassador for the beverage powerhouse, and we’re looking forward to working with her on the NEW Executive Leaders Forum (July 29-31) and other national and regional events.

Congrats, too, to Kate Johnson, who has been promoted to managing director, U.S. consumer products, North America, at H.J. Heinz Company. Kate is now responsible for building and setting the strategic direction for that business, representing more than $3 billion in annual sales!

Network members are advancing women’s leadership by serving Progressive Grocer’s new "Top Women in Grocery” Event and Education Advisory Board. Board members -- including NEW President and CEO Joan Toth and NEW Board member Lisa Walsh, vice president, PepsiCo sales at PepsiCo Inc. -- will provide insights for enhancing the annual TWIG awards gala.

Other NEW members serving on the TWIG board include Michele G. Buck, president, North America, The Hershey Co.; Dawn Gilmore, senior manager, talent and performance development, and Lynn Marmer, group vice president of corporate affairs, at The Kroger Co.; Jan Hilk, executive vice president of Kraft Foods Group; Teena Massingill, director, corporate public affairs, Safeway Inc.; Jane Novak-Cook, vice president, customer business development, food channel, North America, Procter & Gamble; and Larree Renda, executive vice president, Safeway Inc.

Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing for California Avocado Commission; Ken Peterson, vice president, field human resources and diversity for Bi-Lo Holdings; and Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO for Food Marketing Institute have also been named to the Progressive Grocer advisory board.

Stephanie McFee is vice president, member and regional services for the Network of Executive Women. She heads a team that supports the needs of more than 8,500 members and 20 regional groups in the United States and Canada.
