Sue Klug, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Unified Grocers, was named president of the Western Association of Food Chains on April 8, 2014 at the 93rd Annual WAFC Convention in Honolulu.

The first female president in the history of the 94-year-old organization, Klug formerly served as vice president and brings to her role seven years on the WAFC board. At Unified Grocers, Klug is responsible for all marketing, retail support services, communications and retail technology functions. Previously, Klug served as president of Supervalu’s Southern California Division, overseeing all Alberstons Supermarkets, Lucky Supermarkets and Savon Pharmacies in Southern California and Southern Nevada.

Klug was instrumental in the founding of NEW Southern California in 2008, and her work as the region’s logistics co-chair earned her the 2011 Bobbie O’Hare Award for "Regional Leader of the Year.”

Klug created the first Women’s Resource Group at Unified Grocers and was honored in 2010 as Supervalu’s Diversity and Inclusion Champion. A frequent contributor to her community, Klug is an advisor to the City of Hope Food Industries Circle and a board member for the Orange County Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
