Stop & Shop New England has built its business around innovation, customer insights and community involvement, Joseph Kelley, president of the supermarket chain, told the sold-out crowd at the NEW New England learning event, April 11, 2014 in Randolph, Mass.

More than 500 NEW members and supporters gathered at Lombardo’s to hear Kelley’s insights on leadership, building teams and managing change. In a bonus session, Leta Beam, president of Vantage International, shared strategies for building workplace relationships through powerful communication.

Beam, author of Take the Lead: Full-Throttle Engagement Powered by Coaching, urged women to "slow down to speed up” and advise them to take time to build relationships necessary for success. "Communication is powerful,” she said. "Take the time to know yourself, to grow yourself – and others, too.”

During the event, Kelley presented NEW New England Co-Chair of Logistics Kim Richardson-Roach of Ahold USA with the region’s Best of the Best Award for her work and dedication to advancing women in the retail/consumer goods industry.

Organizations sending large groups to the event include Acosta Sales & Marketing, Ahold USA, Bentley University, C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., Hannaford, JOH, Nestlé Group, Nielsen and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
