Network of Executive Women members and supporters will
fête a decade of dedication to women’s leadership at events celebrating the
10th anniversaries of NEW New York Metro and NEW Northwest Arkansas in September and October.
More than 750 NEW members
participate in the NEW New York Metro region and nearly 800 members are active
in NEW Northwest Arkansas.
"The Network of Executive Women has grown in
size and impact since its founding in 2001, and our two 10-year anniversaries
this season celebrate dedication to women’s advancement,” said NEW President
and CEO Joan Toth. "NEW New York Metro consistently delivers strong-content
learning events under the guidance of an exceptional steering committee. NEW
Northwest Arkansas shares leadership knowledge through a variety of channels
that includes a strong mentoring community. We look forward to more learning
and networking with these two exemplary regions.”
"I am humbled by how far we have come and the amazing work that the regional chapters are doing in support of the mission of NEW," added NEW Board member emeritus Bobbie O'Hare, vice president of business development at JOH. "The regional officers and committee
members are the real champions and without
them none of this would be possible. They spend real time engaging
sponsors, members and attendees and that is what makes it all work! I am
grateful to each and everyone in our regions."
O'Hare, whose commitment to NEW included developing the Network's regions, recalled NEW Northwest Arkansas' first meeting and the inception of NEW New York Metro.
"In New England, when I stood at the podium to open the meeting and looked out at all the attendees, I was taken back for a moment and actually felt like Kevin Costner in 'Field of Dreams,' when he said, 'If you build it, they will come.' Well, we built it, and they came," O'Hare said. "I said to myself, 'Wow, now what are we going to do? New York Metro!' We knew if we could start a region in New York that we could do it anywhere!"
NEW New York Metro will celebrate
Sept. 9 at a learning event with Jeffery Tobias Halter, president of YWomen,
who will share his thoughts on "Executive Success: What Men Aren’t Telling
Women.” Festivities will include a
selfie photo booth and special anniversary-themed surprises. The event, to be
held at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City, N.J., will be led by the
NEW New York Metro steering committee; NEW Board member emeritus Bobbie O’Hare
of JOH, and NEW New York Metro founding members Ellen Compesi of Diamond Foods,
Candace Corlett of WSL Strategic Retail, Barbara Lyons of Advantage Sales &
Marketing, and Cheryl Williams of Wakefern Food Corp.
NEW members will celebrate NEW
Northwest Arkansas’ anniversary at two events this year. On Sept. 23, a NEW
Northwest Arkansas mixer at Theo’s Restaurant in Rogers, Ark., will feature
photo booths, anniversary-related networking activities and a theme of
empowerment urging celebrants to finish the statement "I’m a 10 because….”
On Oct. 9, the NEW Northwest
Arkansas learning event will focus on leadership with the presentation "The
First Person You Must Lead is You,” led by Brig. Gen (retired) Becky Halstead
at John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, Ark. The event and its anniversary
celebration, sponsored by Mondelēz International, will honor NEW members
instrumental in the founding and growth of NEW Northwest Arkansas.
