Members navigate career curves at Carolinas event

members learned to navigate their careers in the right direction at the NEW
Carolinas event, Sept. 18, 2014 at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, N.C.
Peggy Allen, executive recruiter for David Perry Associates; Pete Bonneau,
owner of Bonneau Handyman Services; Rhonda Curry, vice president of human
resources for Charlotte Hornets; NEW Board member Tammy DeBoer, senior vice president of food
merchandising for Family Dollar Stores; and Lauri Luker, vice president of
sales operations and planning for WhiteWave Foods, shared career advice during the "Navigating
Career Curves — Success is Not a Straight Line” discussion. Harvey Smith, president of
Carolina Business Coach, moderated.

nearly 250 NEW members at the learning event.
Allen emphasized the importance of being authentic at work, advising members to

The executives stressed the importance of networking and developing
relationships with strong mentors. "Always nurture those
relationships," Bonneau said. "You don't know what role those people
will play in your future."

NEW members shared their enthusiasm about the regional event and the Network's
commitment to career advancement. "The diverse backgrounds and experiences
of the panelists brought a richness to the dialogue that kept me hanging on
every level," said Christine Motherwell, senior director of customer
management for The Coca-Cola Company. "It was an honor to spend the
afternoon with the panelists and hear their advice on life, both at the office
and at home."

PepsiCo Inc., Frito-Lay North America and Kellogg Company.
