Mindfulness — the nonjudgmental acceptance of thoughts and feelings — is a vital leadership skill, according to Diane Sieg, author of 30 Days to Grace, a Daily Practice Guide to Achieve Your Ultimate Goals, who offered career-advancing advice at the NEW Denver fall learning event, Oct. 15, 2014 at the Marriott Westminster in Westminster, Colo.

Two out of three people deal with stress every day without paying attention to their bodies, Sieg said. Practicing mindfulness is a critical part of stress reduction and overall wellness.

One tip: Dedicate five minutes a day to meditate, breathe deeply or do a single yoga position to make a difference in your stress level.

"Make a commitment to yourself for 30 days and you'll notice a transformation," Sieg said.

Attendees received a copy of Sieg's book and 30 days of weekly email check-ins

Organizations sending groups to the event include Frito-Lay, King Soopers, PepsiCo Inc. and WhiteWave Foods Company.
