'Have courage to change,' Ahold's Lenkevich says

"Be open to change, because change is coming," Tom Lenkevich, president of the Giant/Martin's division of Ahold USA, advised more than 350 Network of Executive Women members and supporters at the NEW Greater Philadelphia learning event, Nov. 6 at Hershey Lodge, in Hershey, Pa.

By embracing change, Giant/Martin's is reshaping retail, making the 200 stores Lenkevich oversees better places to shop and work and improving neighborhoods, he said. Positive change comes through associate engagement, working daily to make the experience better and reinvesting in that goal.

To keep team members engaged, empower them to give them a sense of accountability and ownership in the process, Lenkevich advised. "It's the people who make it happen," he said.

Organizations sending large delegations to the event include Acosta Sales & Marketing, Ahold USA, Bottom Dollar Food, Campbell Soup Company, Donovan Advertising & Marketing Services, Giant Food Stores LLC, The Hershey Company, JOH, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, St. Joseph's University, Utz Quality Foods Inc., Weis Markets.
