Strong workplace communication is "all about the vision," Kevin Coupe, founder of MorningNewsBeat.com, told more than 350 NEW members at the NEW New England learning event, Nov. 7, 2014 in Foxborough, Mass.

Following a red-carpet entrance for attendees, Coupe offered leadership lessons during his morning workshop "How to say 'Action' in Your Career!" and an afternoon keynote presentation that featured material from his book The Big Picture: Essential Business Lessons from the Movies, co-authored with Michael Sansolo.

Communicating your vision is a powerful tool for gaining others' understanding -- and persuading them to "buy in," he said. "Stories are a great way to relate. Tell me a story."

NEW members were asked to choose actors to play them in a movie about their life --an exercise that helped attendees zero in on how they want to be seen and how they present themselves at work.

"Kevin Coupe was a humorous and down-to-earth speaker with a passion for the CPG industry," said Krista Specht, forecast analyst for Delhaize America. "It was energizing to meet and converse with women role models from across my industry and I look forward to the next NEW event."

Organizations sending large delegations to the event include Acosta Sales & Marketing, Ahold USA, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Hannaford Supermarkets, JOH, Roche Bros. Supermarkets, Shaw's Supermarkets Inc., Stop & Shop and Nielsen.
