Brig. Gen. Halstead offers leadership lessons in NorCal

"The team is
only as good as you," retired Brig. Gen. Becky Halstead told more than 450 NEW
members at the NEW Northern California spring learning event, May 15, 2015 at
Blackhawk Museum in Danville.
Halstead, the founder of STEADFAST Leadership LLC and author of 24/7: The First Person You Must Lead is You,
shared life and career lessons gained from 27 years of service in the U.S. Army
and more than 15 years in executive-level leadership roles.

The first female in U.S. history to command in combat at the strategic
level, Halstead shared the importance of teamwork for leadership success.
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go
Strength and encouragement are leadership essentials, Halstead said. "As a leader you need to be capable of giving
a kick in the butt and a pat on the back. They are only 8 inches apart."
Take careful inventory of assets and resources. "Are
you getting what you want or getting what you asked for?" Halstead asked,
adding "there is a difference."
