NEW Vice Chair Karen Stuckey of Wal-Mart offered an overview of the Network's
"X Project" technology initiative at the NEW Executive Leaders Forum.

The Network of Executive Women is investing in new technology to drive speed, scale and engagement with its corporate partners, members, employees and other stakeholders, NEW Vice Chair Karen Stuckey, told industry leaders at the NEW Executive Leaders Forum, July 28-30 outside Los Angeles

Stuckey, senior vice president of softlines and general merchandise at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said the strategic initiative, dubbed the "X Project," will include new engagement and analytical tools that will give NEW partners and members "unparalleled insights into their workforce, their teams and their own careers." The X Project will help drive the Network's campaign to grow membership from 10,000 to 25,000 by 2020 and to 50,000 by 2025.

"In math, X is a multiplier that creates something exponentially greater than its sum. That is what this project will be," Stuckey said. "The X Project will expand and leverage all of the Network’s human and knowledge capital. NEW’s great power is it boots — and stilettos — on the ground. Now add the X factor — technology — and imagine how powerful we could be."

"Unleashed from the limits of time and distance, networking and learning will expand outward, and become more personal at the same time," Stuckey said. "Engagement will be in real time. Learning will be 24/7. The cost of entry will be lowered. And because it will be mobile, it will go wherever you do."

The Network's goal: Leaders at every level finding a mentor or protégé, learning at their own pace, sharing their big ideas and asking for help — all on "one powerful platform."

When work on The X Project is complete, organizations will be able to "track their inclusion progress and benchmark their career development efforts. NEW members will be able to create their own online communities and connect one-to-one or one-to-many," Stuckey reported.

"Each NEW member will impact dozens around her, creating a groundswell of change that will achieve our mission to transform our industry," Stuckey said. "Our powerful Network will help leaders grow their business and build their teams. And it will help the retail and consumer goods industry become a leading destination for women, Millennial and multicultural talent."
