Company discussed "Leading with Confidence" at the
NEW South Texas event.
The most successful leaders
are confident, self-aware and help others grow their careers, according to four
senior industry leaders who shared their insights on empowered leadership with
110 NEW members and supporters at the NEW South Texas fall learning event,
Sept. 16, 2015 in Houston.
Jim Dinkins, chief retail
sales officer of national retail sales for The Coca-Cola Company; Kim Lubel,
president and CEO of CST Brands Inc.; Sidney Hopper, division president,
Houston at Randalls/Albertsons; and Patti Weber, vice president of clinical
adjudication operations for Karma Dead, offered their advice for "Leading
with Confidence." NEW Regional Advisory Chair Marla Thompson, senior vice
president of US strategy for Catalina, moderated the event.
Emerging leaders were
- Maintain confidence despite real or imagined adversity.
In the words of author Jack Canfield, "Everything you want is on the other
side of fear."
- Be aware of your words and
actions. The shadow you cast as a leader is huge.
- See others' potential. Leverage the ability to bring a
person to a place or level they didn't know existed.
- Keep in mind there are only two things you control:
effort and attitude. Knowing that, you are empowered to be a great leader.
