Emotional intelligence, also referred to as EQ, is the "other kind of smart" and the number-one predictor of success professionally and personally, Dr. Travis Bradberry, co-founder of TalentSmart, told more than 500 NEW members and supporters at the NEW Northern California learning event, Oct. 23, 2015 at Blackhawk Museum in Danville.

Bradberry shared leadership insights detailed in his book Emotional Intelligence 2.0, co-authored with Jean Greaves, and moderated a panel discussion with William J. Emotional intelligence (EQ) has four parts: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationships management, Bradberry said. EQ can increase your ability to manage your behavior, navigate social complexities and make personal decisions that achieve positive results.

Organizations sending large groups to the event included Big Heart Pet Brands, Chevron Corporation, E. & J. Gallo, Frito-Lay North America, H.J. Heinz, Kraft Foods, Mondelēz International, Procter & Gamble, Ross Stores Inc. and Safeway Inc.
