Network members have until Wednesday, July 15 to submit their applications to become members of NEW’s At-Large Board of Directors. Board members serve for two years and will also serve on at least one the Board’s standing committees: Membership, Sponsorship, Education and Programming, Regional Activities and Industry Relations.
Past President Helayne Angelus of Inspirational Performance LLC, speaking on behalf of the Network’s Nominating Committee, urged qualified members to apply, noting that “2009 is marking another great year for NEW and our mission to attract, retain and advance women in the retail and consumer packaged goods industry, and we’re excited about the opportunities that lay ahead.”
A slate of board members will be selected in July by the Nominating Committee, which is comprised of present and past officers and board members . The slate will be voted on by members at the Network’s annual members meeting on October 12 in Dallas just prior to the 2009 NEW Leadership Summit.
The Network is “seeking individuals who are innovative thinkers with demonstrated leadership capabilities and a passion for diversity awareness and progress,” NEW noted. ”Board members have an opportunity to interact with a diverse group of retailers, suppliers, and others allied to the consumer packaged goods industry; be involved in NEW initiatives; make new connections with other Board members; and interact with NEW staff.”
