NEW Annual Report details a transformative year

Last year was "transformative” for the Network of Executive Women, according to the organization’s newly released NEW Annual Report 2015. NEW started the year with a new mission, vision and look; introduced new learning programs; launched an "It’s Time” Movement for workplace change and set new records in membership, events and partner support.

NEW's year of transformation began in January 2015, when NEW enrolled senior industry leaders in the "It's Time" Movement for women's leadership and workplace change at the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference in Miami.

In February, NEW unveiled the groundbreaking NEW Career Accelerator Model,™ which outlines the 13 critical success factors specific to women leaders in retail and consumer goods. The Model serves as the foundation of a powerful suite of innovative career-building programs, including the NEW Executive Institute, NEW Rising Stars and NEW Career Accelerator Workshops, all introduced last year.

"Our powerful new Network is helping the industry become a leading destination for women, millennials and multicultural talent,” noted NEW Board Chair Karen Stuckey, senior vice president, private brands, general merchandise, Walmart US of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

NEW President and CEO Joan Toth said, "We’re creating a bigger and more powerful Network to transform our industry’s workplace and move the needle on women’s leadership.”

By the numbers

NEW membership grew to a record 9,677 women and men representing 723 companies in 20 regions across North America. Nearly 1,100 NEW members volunteered as NEW officers, volunteers, Champions or Ambassadors in 2015. Nearly 24,000 Network members and supporters attended more than 150 NEW conferences, regional events, mixers, online webinars and industry and partner outreach events.  

NEW income grew 10 percent last year to an all-time record of nearly $6.4 million. NEW’s 98 corporate partners — including 10 new partner companies — contributed $2.81 million, or 44 percent of total income. Two sold-out conferences — NEW Executive Leaders Forum and NEW Leadership Summit — were responsible for 33.3 percent of income. Regional events and sponsorship contributed 14.9 percent.

NEW social media grew 67 percent to more than 29,000 followers — another 22,000 supporters joined the conversation on our regions’ social media accounts.

The NEW Annual Report features impact statements from a score of members, including: Trish Adams of Target, Laurie Burgess of UNFI, Lourdes Canizares-Bidwa of EY, Maria Chakides of Coca-Cola, Alice Chan of Frito-Lay, PJ Connor of Hormel Foods, Jackie Davis of Ocean Spray and Kendra Doyel of Ralphs.

Also featured are Rae Gaffney of Clorox, Lisa A. Haen of Schwan’s, Vanessa Lecorps of Nestlé Waters, Alyson Leeper of Delhaize, Alexandra Oles of Hershey, Valerie Oswalt of Mondelēz, Gayle Shields of Ahold USA, Jodi Truckor of SC Johnson, Sabrina Wiewel of Hallmark Cards, Kim Williams of Coca-Cola and Nicole Wright of Acosta Sales & Marketing.
