Sam’s Club CEO Brian Cornell will kick off NEW Summit
Thursday, September 10, 2009
The opening reception of the Network of Executive Women’s 2009
Leadership Summit will feature remarks by one of the consumer products and
retail industry’s most influential executives.
Brian Cornell, the recently appointed president and chief
executive officer of Sam’s Club, will speak at the NEW Summit’s opening reception
and buffet, which begins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 12 at the Sheraton
Dallas Hotel in Dallas.
Due to special demand, the
Network is offering non-Summit attendees admission to the opening reception. Persons
do not have to be a Network member or Summit attendee to register for this
event (those already registered for the Summit do not need to take any further
action).
Brian Cornell was named president and CEO of Sam's Club in April 2009. Before
joining Walmart, Cornell was CEO of Michaels Stores, Inc., the largest
specialty retailer of arts and crafts and do-it-yourself home decorating
materials in North America. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and
chief marketing officer for Safeway. He has also held senior management
positions at PepsiCo and served on the boards of Home Depot and OfficeMax.
