Angela Bassett will headline Simmons Leadership Conference
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Actor and humanitarian Angela Bassett will join journalist
Tina Brown, author Sheryl WuDunn
and children’s advocate Mia Farrow at the 31st annual Simmons Leadership
Conference, Friday, April 30, at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. More
than 2,000 women are expected to attend.
The one-day event, themed "Spirit of Resilience,” will also
include concurrent sessions on marketing, money management, workplace
leadership, work/life balance and wellness. Brown will discuss international
markets with Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky. Other dialogues will focus on
entrepreneurship and resilience.
NEW members Bobbie O’Hare and Christine Colwell from the New
England group attended the conference last year with Network Client Services
Director Nancy Krawczyk. O’Hare
has attended the conference since graduating from the Simmons School of
Management in 2002 and has been working on building bridges between Simmons and
the Network ever since. Krawczyk praised last year’s event. "It was an
energizing day with inspiring keynotes, panels and workshops that identified
actions we could take to empower women here and around the world.”
"This year’s program continues the tradition with a
power-packed day of information and inspiration for over 2,000 women from
around the world,” organizers said. Proceeds help support Simmons graduate scholarships,
advancing the development of tomorrow's corporate, organizational and civic
leaders.
