A&P taps Network to launch women’s group

The Great Atlantic &
Pacific Tea Co. is leveraging the Network of Executive Women to help launch its
Women Executive Leaders Leading (The WELL) business resource group.
The group, led by Marie
Robinson, A&P senior vice president, logistics and supply chain, hosted Network
veterans at a meeting at the chain's Montvale, N.J., headquarters on Aug. 11, 2011. Appearing on
behalf of the Network were Ellen Compesi, national account manager for Diamond
Foods and NEW Metro New York treasurer; Ilea Evans, customer development
manager for Campbell Soup Co. and NEW Philadelphia program committee chair; and
Bridget Acox, client business manager for Acosta Sales and Marketing and NEW
Metro New York steering committee member. The trio addressed 30 A&P
executives and emerging leaders who recently joined NEW, sharing ways to get
the most out of their Network membership.
"We appreciate Bridget, Ilea and Ellen for
taking time out of their busy lives to come and share their personal experiences
with NEW with us and for helping us become oriented to the NEW website and
other resources,” Robinson said. "We at A&P look forward to living up to

women, children and family wellness, and to align behind A&P’s efforts to
provide opportunities for a healthy lifestyle within our communities. It also
expresses our desire to provide a place where our members can come for social
interaction with a spirit of nourishment and community.”
The WELL will support the retailer’s goals to be
a company that better reflects its communities and customers and to become
nationally recognized as an employer of choice.

Diamond Foods at A&P’s Montvale, N.J. headquarters.
