Texas now served by two NEW regional groups
Monday, October 17, 2011
Everything’s big in Texas. So big, the Network of Executive Women
is doubling its presence in the state to better serve its cpg/retail members.
NEW North Central Texas will serve the Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin and
surrounding areas; NEW South Texas will be based in Houston.
Both regions will
continue outreach to other markets in the state.
"The addition of a
Houston-based regional group is in direct response to our Texas members’ active
participation in growing the Network’s reach; their desire to cultivate their
careers in the cpg/retail industry; and their determination to grow their
company’s business by tapping into the experience, creativity and potential of
women leaders,” said Joan Toth, NEW president and CEO.
The NEW North Central Texas fall networking luncheon,
Oct. 27 in Frisco, will feature Connie Glaser, who will address the gender
communication gap in the workplace.
NEW South Texas, in partnership with The Coca-Cola Co., is hosting
a NEW 10th Anniversary Celebration,
Nov. 3 in Houston, site of the first Network of Executive Women Leadership
Summit. The event will feature special guests Mike St. John, president
of Minute Maid, and Jerry Wilson, Coca-Cola’s senior vice president, chief
customer and commercial officer.
In September, The Kroger
Co. hosted a luncheon to determine interest in formalizing a Houston-based
region. Fifteen women representing companies such as Frito-Lay, The Coca-Cola
Co., Acosta and Kraft Foods participated.
"With more than 8,000
associates in the Houston area, a local region of NEW will benefit many Kroger
associates with many opportunities to enhance leadership competencies and
network with others in the industry,” noted NEW South Texas Co-Chair Logistics
Martha Freitas, assistant human resources manager, The Kroger Co.
Other NEW South Texas
officers include Co-Chair Logistics Kim Hryhorchuk of The Kroger Co. and
Co-Chairs Programs Melanie Cangemi and Laura Wayne, both of The Coca-Cola Co.
NEW North Central Texas is led by Co-Chair Programs Melody Orrantia of
MarketSphere Consulting and Co-Chair Logistics Christina Clarke of Frito-Lay;
Treasurer C.J. Boss of GameStop; and Co-Secretaries Trish McBratney of Deloitte
and Jill Spitzer of ConAgra Foods.
