The 2012 Network of Executive Women Leadership Academy, a series of eight webinars focusing on personal growth and career advancement, kicks off Feb. 3, 2012, with a workshop on developing emotional intelligence as a leadership skill.

Registration for the NEW Leadership Academy webinars is free for NEW members. Kim Zilliox, vice president of leadership development for Women’s Leadership Coaching Inc., will lead the one-hour sessions, which will include a senior-level retail industry executive and cpg leader sharing their personal experiences and insights. The Leadership Academy webinars will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST on Feb. 3, March 2, May 4, June 1, Aug. 3, Sept. 7, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, 2012. Members completing all eight classes will be recognized with a Leadership Academy certificate.

Members are encouraged to register now and invite colleagues to participate in each webinar in a group setting. The Network will provide questions tailored to each session to facilitate post-webinar discussion groups.

"I am so pleased to continue this partnership with NEW to showcase the wisdom of senior women leaders in the consumer and packaged goods industry, and cultivate the upcoming generation of women leaders,” Zilliox said. "In this second year of the Leadership Academy we will invite participants to raise the bar in how they approach their career and leadership development.”

The 2012 NEW Leadership Academy webinars will address topics such as creating a personal brand, the art of self-promotion, change leadership, purposeful presentations, conflict resolution, acting strategically and whole-life management.

Affinity group leaders may want to use the NEW Leadership Academy webinars as ready-to-use program content, noted Nancy Krawczyk, NEW director of client services.

Companies such as A&P, for example, have already tapped into the Leadership Academy to support their women’s networks. The retailer’s new Women Executive Leaders Leading (The WELL) business resource group has made the webinars part of its calendar of events, hosting a lunch for any WELL member who would like to participate in a group setting.

"Our funds to launch our group were very limited," noted Marie Robinson, senior vice president, supply and logistics. "The Leadership Academy webinars seem custom-designed to fill our needs. Participation has been outstanding, and the discussions we have afterward have led us to uncover internal resources and insights that have only made our group stronger.

"We are grateful for the resource and plan to have a large group participating in every single webinar in 2012. Getting a group to experience the webinars together multiplies the rewards.”
