NEW Cincinnati uncovers hidden opportunities at sold-out event

More than 475 Network of Executive Women members and supporters took a look at tomorrow at the NEW Cincinnati region's sold-out fall networking event Nov. 2, 2011.

Futurist Edie Weiner helped the industry professionals "Uncover Tomorrow’s Hidden Opportunities" at the afternoon event, held at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. Weiner said attendees should stimulate different parts of their brains. She suggested reading two publications you would never dream of reading twice a week; listening to contemporary music for at least an hour a week – even if it’s not your cup of tea; and having someone younger teach you whatever they want to teach you.

"I had heard Edie speak previously at a NEW event and took her advice by enrolling in community education classes one day a week,” said Joselyn Hall, category management team leader, Kroger, for The Clorox Company. "I challenged my team to do the same, or to do something outside their comfort zone. I took classes in digital photography and Mandarin -- completely out of my element! It was humbling and refreshing to be the beginner. It works!”
