More than 80 Network members and supporters celebrated the Network’s 10th anniversary Nov. 3, 2011, at a NEW South Texas event held a decade after Houston hosted the first-ever NEW Leadership Summit.

The inaugural NEW South Texas networking event, held at the Coca-Cola North America Minute Maid Building in Sugar Land, featured welcoming remarks from Jerry Wilson, the company’s senior vice president and chief customer and commercial officer. Wilson was recognized with a certificate honoring his devotion to NEW, his commitment to the advancement of women in the cpg/retail industry and his overall "awesomeness.”

"Our first NEW South Texas networking event was a huge success,” said NEW South Texas Co-Chair Melanie N. Cangemi, manager, warehouse planning and performance management for The Coca-Cola Company. "I enjoyed meeting women and sharing thoughts about where we can take this region. I am always amazed at how women come together, not initially knowing one another, and share the synergies around professional growth. The energy and passion portrayed is incredible. I am excited about the future of the NEW South Texas.”

Along with representatives of The Coca-Cola Company, NEW members from Kraft Foods, The Kroger Company, Stage Stores Inc. and other cpg/retail companies attended the evening event.

Jerry Wilson, senior vice president and chief
customer and commercial officer, The Coca-Cola
Company, touted the opportunities offered by NEW.
