Tom Johnson, vice president, Global Business Services, for Network of Executive Women title sponsor Clorox has been elected president of the board of directors of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, a national nonprofit committed to ending employment discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.

"I'm honored to take on this role for an organization that is leading the way to workplace equality for LGBT people and helping corporations drive employee engagement and business results,” Johnson said. "Together, organizations like Out & Equal and Clorox are partnering to create inclusive environments where people can bring their whole self to the job each day and do their best work.”

Named one of "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign, Clorox has earned a 100 percent rating for six consecutive years on the HRC's 2012 Corporate Equality Index, a nationally recognized measure of LGBT equality in the workplace.

"Like Clorox, we believe people should be judged by the work they do, not by their sexual orientation or gender identity. Every day, we work to protect and empower employees to be productive and successful,” said Out & Equal's founding executive director Selisse Berry. "Tom has a history of championing LGBT causes, and we are delighted to have him as our new board president.”

Last year, the Clorox Pride employee resource group received the 2010 ERG of the Year award from Out & Equal. In addition to the Pride group, Clorox's other ERGs-- women, African-American, Asian/Pacific and Hispanic -- are key parts of Clorox's diversity and inclusion strategy.
