Nearly 270 Network of Executive Women members and supporters were inspired by retired Army Lt. Col. Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch to "live the legacy” and make a difference in the world at the North Central Texas spring networking event April 26, 2012, at the Tower Club in Dallas.

Kickbusch, founder and president of Educational Achievement Services Inc., shared her insights on effective leadership. "You can change the world, but change begins with you,” she told NEW members. "Look inside yourself and see the journey, because that is what life is -- a journey. Embrace the journey, have fun, enjoy the ride. But make sure you are on the right ride.”

In the workplace, "press onto others what you have learned,” Kickbusch advised. "Take great pride in the success of those around you.”

The three-hour event was moderated by NEW North Central Texas Co-Chair Logistics Christina Clarke, brand manager for Frito-Lay, and NEW North Central Texas Co-Chair Programs Melody Orrantia, market leader for MarketSphere Consulting.

"My expectations were exceeded tremendously by Consuelo Kickbusch,” said NEW North Central Texas Event Committee Lead Christy McCrary of CROSSMARK. " I felt so honored that such a successful and busy women took the time to speak to us on how we can all achieve success. By no means did I expect this would be more than a one-time experience, and now I see that it can be an everlasting experience. The atmosphere and networking of the event with other successful women was fabulous.”

Among the organizations sending delegations to the event were: 7-Eleven Inc., Brookshire Grocery Company, Coca-Cola Refreshments, CROSSMARK, Deloitte, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, GameStop, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Kroger, Launch Agency, PepsiCo, Southern Methodist University and Walgreens.

NEW North Central Texas Secretary Jill Shoush called the event "awe-inspiring,” adding many of the women and men present were first-time NEW event attendees.
