Clorox receives ERG leadership award

Network of Executive Women title sponsor The Clorox Company has
received the 2012 Ascend ERG Leadership Award in recognition of its Asian ERG.
Ascend, a nonprofit association dedicated to advancing the leadership potential
of Pan-Asians in global business, honored the CPG company at its national
convention July 30, 2012 in Chicago.
Two years ago, Clorox CEO Don Knauss challenged the company’s
Asian ERG tothink about ways to better connect Clorox with Asian consumers
to help drive business results. Based on research, store visits and surveys,
the ERG identified Asian sauces and marinades as a potential focus for a
strategic acquisition. This work was the business foundation that led to the
acquisition of Soy Vay, a company that makes kosher Asian sauces, in December
2011, according to Erby Foster, director of diversity and inclusion for The
Striving to make a change in Clorox’s business, the Asian
ERG holds a semi-annual event called IdeAsian for employees to brainstorm
business opportunities and share cultural insights and marketing trends
specific to the Asian consumer. Clorox’s internal Asian focus group is used by business
units for testing product and marketing ideas.
"Business connectivity is now a formal part of the company’s
diversity strategy and cascades to all of Clorox’s ERGs,” Foster said. "Soy Vay
