Network members have until Sept. 13 to register online for one of two optional NEW Leadership Summit 2010 sessions: Retail Safari®, a guided tour of five innovative and influential stores, and the Deep Dive Career Day, a workshop featuring the world-renowned Birkman assessment survey. Both one-day sessions will take place Sept. 29 in Charlotte.

The post-Summit Retail Safari® includes visits to Bloom, a "different kind of grocery store"; Family Dollar, one of the nation's largest convenience and value retailers; IKEA, the self-service home products retailer; Trader Joe's, a chain the combines shopability with competitively priced store-branded products; and a remodeled Walmart supercenter, featuring products arranged by price, wider aisles, better lighting, low-profile shelving and easy-to-read signage.

Group discounts

The registration fee for the Retail Safari is $299 per member. Group discounts of 10 percent for companies registering five or more people, 15 percent for firms registering 10 or more people, are available. Each company registering five or more attendees will receive a free 90-minute debriefing session after the Retail Safari.® The debrief, moderated by an expert from WSL Strategic Retail and held at the members' company, will capture ideas from executives who attended the Safari and facilitate brainstorming with other employees.

At the one-day Deep Dive Career Day participants will learn how to leverage their unique work style to maximize business relationships, improve communications, increase effectiveness and build strong mentor partnerships. Nine in-depth conference calls extend the Deep Dive learning through November 2011. Each 45-minute webinar session will be led by a career coach from Corbett Consulting and accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation with key takeaways. Topics will focus on goal setting, communication styles, decision-making, personal branding and more. The fee for the complete Career Day and follow-on Experience is $595.

Before arriving, attendees will take the Birkman work style assessment (a $3,000 value), providing them with a detailed survey of personal strengths and blind spots. The on-site Deep Dive facilitator will be NEW's Sandra Bushby, global director of diversity for Pfizer and a certified Birkman analyst and trainer.
