Network Executive Director Joan Toth will moderate a panel addressing the power of strategic networking at the 6th Annual Women's Leadership Forum, Oct. 21, in Portland, Ore.

It is the first public event for NEW’s newly formed Pacific Northwest region, combining the Network’s Seattle and Portland members. The move is designed to leverage the talent and resources of the two groups’ memberships.

The panel will feature Sue Klug, president of Albertsons' South California Division; Mitzi Short, vice president and general manager, PepsiCo Customer Team; and Kathy Calcagno, vice president, wealth management of private client services, Wells Fargo.

The day’s agenda will also include Aaron Howard of insurance company The Standard, who will discuss ways to use social media to build a network, and Natalie Miller, vice president, business development, Lee Hect Harrison, who will address the importance of networking.

"NEW is pleased to be partnering once again with Portland State University's Food Industry Leadership Center for the sixth year to provide learning opportunities for all levels of our industry, from student to seasoned professionals,” Toth said. "We are especially excited to debut our Northwest Pacific region and talk to professionals and students about the opportunities available through the Network.”

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and includes a networking luncheon from 12 to 1 p.m. The Forum concludes with a networking reception beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Forum will be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland.

The Women's Leadership Forum draws leaders from across the industry supply chain. The event is designed to benefit men and women who are dedicated to attracting, retaining, mentoring and advancing women and diversity in the retail/consumer products industry.

The registration fee for the half-day PSU/NEW event is $95. To register, click here.
