Judith A. Spires, chairman and CEO of KB Holding Inc. (Kings Super Markets, Balducci's), has been named 2016 Top Women in Grocery Trailblazer by Progressive Grocer and the Network of Executive Women.
Spires and other Top Women in Grocery will be honored at an awards gala during this year's Top Women in Grocery event, November 9-11 in Orlando. The 10th anniversary event will also feature a 5K charity fun run benefiting the NEW Future Fund.

The Trailblazer award – which recognizes groundbreaking leadership by and for women in the retail food industry – honors Spires’s outstanding supermarket career and active dedication to community efforts. A longtime NEW supporter, Spires has been inducted into both the NEW CPG Retail Diversity Hall of Fame and NEW Outstanding Champion Hall of Fame, received the William J. Grize Diversity Hall of Fame Award in 2011.
She recently led the session "Enhancing Your Leadership Brand” at the April NEW Rising Stars kickoff session in NEW Orleans. Spires was also instrumental in launching the NEW Greater Philadelphia region in 2006.
"Judy has exemplified the true meaning of ‘trailblazer’ during her storied career dedicated to the grocery industry," NEW President and CEO Joan Toth said. "She serves as a role model and mentor and never hesitates to give back and share her wisdom.”
Spires’ board service includes chairing both the New Jersey Food Council and Academy of Food Marketing at St. Joseph's University, and the Food Marketing Institute and Cancer Treatment Center of America. Spires and her husband Bob reside in New Jersey with their son.
